He was able to bring my bag back to life and that was the beginning of our friendship. I first met Levon when I brought in a Balenciaga bag that got destroyed in the rain and I was on the verge of throwing it out. I started off as Levon’s customer 8 years ago and became good friends over the years. I am posting the after photos first because my bag is just so gorgeous now! I would think this is a new 2017 bag given how shiny and pretty she is! Wait til you see the after photos below!Ībout Purse Rehab as told to me by Natasha: Levon Akopyan is a third-generation cobbler and started his training at age 15 working for his father who’s idea it was to open in Malibu. Snobs, if you have any bags that need to check into rehab, whether they’re just in need of a slight tune up, as bad as condition as mine or even worse, email Natasha at down to see all the before and after photos and for a background on Purse Rehab. I thought I had to lay this beautiful old Kelly bag down to rest considering how ancient she was! I have no idea how Purse Rehab worked this miracle but I can safely say I will trust them with all my bags in the future (this is not a paid sponsored post by the way- merely a public service one!). When it arrived a few days later, I gasped and jumped with joy. Being the impatient person I am, I asked to see photos and was shocked that this was the same bag! Less than 17 days later, I received word that my beloved Kelly was ready. Natasha, the co-founder and director of operations, and I must have emailed dozens of times to reassure me my baby will be good as new (or better!) within weeks. The transaction could not have been more smooth and reassuring. I did extensive research before sending my bag to Purse Rehab (I love the idea that I sent my bag to a rehab in Malibu!) and when I was in Malibu for the 4th of July, I decided to go for it. I also thought about sending it to Hermes but the last time they refurbished a bag for me it took almost a year (worth the wait by the way), but I wanted to carry this navy and white kelly bag NOW because it’s my summer favorite!
BEST LEATHER BAG REPAIR LOS ANGELES AREA CRACKED
It was literally falling apart (as you can see in the photo below, the handle was about to split, the leather cracked and the edges completely destroyed by all the times I spent “loving” on it) and I was very concerned, intervention was definitely in order. I hesitated because this is a very old bag and I didn’t know how it would react to an overhaul.

In June of this year, I discovered Purse Rehab- a rehab for old broken bags in Malibu and they offered to treat my beloved vintage Hermes Kelly bag circa 1972 for review. Besides, I don’t mind a beat up looking bag as I think it shows that it’s been well loved! But when my bags start falling apart, I get worried. I mean, I try to take care of them the best I can but it’s hard with my travel and work schedule along with daily hands on mommy duties! I do keep my bags in their dust-covers (if I can find them 😂) and use a leather cleaner if I spill pasta sauce or wine but that’s about it. I also don’t believe in keeping plastic on the hardware (it actually will damage your bags as condensation gets beneath the plastic and will rust your hardware- I’ve seen it happen to a girlfriend!). I love my bags and I take good care of them but I don’t baby them.
